New city, new series

The White Sox have touched down in Arlington, Texas, to see the Rangers again. In their last meeting, the White Sox took two of three. Since then, the Rangers have won four of the past five games.

Before we get to the lineup, and in case you’ve been away from the internet today, Andrew Vaughn’s chapter in Chicago has ended. In turn, the White Sox picked up pitcher Aaron Civale, who requested a trade nearly 24 hours ago, and a reported $600,000 from the Brewers.

Don’t expect too much from Civale, but he will eat innings, and that is occasionally what the White Sox need the most — especially when they have had to turn to the bullpen earlier than planned some nights. Best of luck to Vaughn up north.

There were also several roster moves made today. Brooks Baldwin is back! There is also a first baseman from Boston who is heading to Charlotte, and Joshua Palacios got the dreaded DFA.

Speaking of new-ish to the White Sox pitching rotation, Adrian Houser (2-1) is on the mound tonight. He owns a steady 1.48 ERA and dominated the Royals during his last outing, with a 4-1 win. A few power bats are back in the lineup tonight, and Miguel Vargas is back on first base. Kyle Teel will return after being missed last night.

Shawn Armstrong will be on the mound for Texas. He has pitched in 27 games this season as a relief pitcher and managed to give up 10 runs and hold an ERA of 3.33. Despite a decent lineup, the Sox will ideally take advantage of a bullpen game before seeing Jacob deGrom tomorrow.

First pitch is 7:05 p.m. CT. You can watch the game on CHSN or listen on ESPN Chicago 1000.
