We finally beat the Reds.

Well well well.

To TJ Friedl: I wish you a very unpleasant trip back to Cincinnati. I hope I never have to see you play against my team again.

So... the offense found it. Logan Allen dug deep and found it (more on him in a second).

13 hits, 11 runs, 2 homers. Jose extends his streak. No Kwan, and yet they still found a way to erupt for their highest scoring output of the year.

Lane Thomas had three hits, including this 3-run opposite field homer in the 6th inning.

Kyle Manzardo is no longer a missing person! He went 2-3 with 2 RBI (2-run double) when he pinch hit for Fry in the 4th.

Carlos Santana went oppo with this near 400-foot slam to right-center to blow the game wide open. Congratulations to Edward Moss of Cleveland on your brand new car!

Okay, let’s talk about Logan Allen. As Covering the Corner’s own @/BelowAverageOPS noted, Logan Allen’s velocity was up today, especially on his fastball.

Everything was thrown harder today, but most notably his cutter and fastball reached near-league average velocities, something that, if it persists, would be a massive improvement for the soft tosser.

Anyway, we finally beat the Reds. I really, really hope that whatever Vogt said to the guys after yesterday’s performance stuck, and that they will FINALLY turn the corner and start hitting. The west coast is up next, with 3 against the Mariners, Giants, and Athletics. Both Seattle and the A’s have been struggling as of late, so it’d be nice to see the Guardians rip off a nice stretch here.
