Will Wilson homers twice in return to Columbus, Trevor Stephan makes first rehab appearance
Cleveland Guardians minor league recap for Wednesday, June 11, 2025
Columbus Clippers4, Buffalo Bisons 3
Box Score · Clippers improve to 27-34
In possibly the most obvious showing of the massive growing difference between MLB and Triple-A this season, Will Wilson put up an MVP-level performance in his return to Columbus on Tuesday, going 2-for-4 with two home runs. That’s two more home runs than he hit in a month in Cleveland. Wilson continues to put up ridiculous numbers at Triple-A this year, currently sporting a 1.144 OPS and a .333 batting average.
C.J. Kayfus was the only other Clipper to have a great game, going 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Chase DeLauter was held hitless but walked three times.
Starting pitcher Aaron Davenport bounced back with a solid 5.0 innings, allowing one run on three hits with two strikeouts and three walks.
A rehabbing Erik Sobrowski allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk in one inning. Nick Mikolajchak picked up the save with a scoreless ninth inning.
Akron RubberDucks 1, Hartford Yard Goats 3
Box Score · RubberDucks fall to 36-21
Akron outhit Hartford but just couldn’t string anything together on Tuesday. The RubberDucks also had no extra base hits.
Three different players had multi-hit games, however. Alex Mooney led the way, going 2-for-3 with a walk. Cooper Ingle went 2-for-4 with a walk and Guy Lipscomb went 2-for-4. Dayan Frias also reached base safely twice, going 1-for-3 with a walk while Kahlil Watson walked twice.
In his return to Double-A, Angel Genao went 0-for-5, but had the team’s only RBI.
The game remained tied 1-1 until the bottom of the ninth inning, when Zane Morehouse allowed a walk-off two-run home run.
Before that, Carter Spivey pitched 2.2 scoreless innings and Jake Miller added 2.1 perfect frames with five strikeouts. Miller has turned into a reliever worth paying attention to, currently sporting a 1.52 ERA and 0.74 WHIP with 35 strikeouts in 29.2 innings at Double-A in his age-24 season.
Lake County Captains 3, Dayton Dragons 2
Box Score · Captains improve to 30-28
Lake County appeared well on its way to losing this game 2-0 before rallying for an incredible three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to walk off Dayton.
Jaison Chourio opened the frame with a walk. Christian Knapczyk then reached on a fielding error. After Ralphy Velazquez struck out, Alfonsin Rosario hit an infield single to load the bases.
Esteban Gonzalez then singled up the middle to tie the game 2-2 and after Jose Devers grounded out sharply, Jonah Advincula played hero with a line drive walk-off single.

Gonzalez finished 2-for-4 with a double while Advincula was 1-for-3 with a walk. Chourio walked twice and Johnny Tincher doubled.
Starting pitcher Matt Wilkinson had his best performance of the season, allowing one run on two hits with seven strikeouts and one walk in 5.2 innings pitched.
Adam Tulloch added 1.1 scoreless frames and Kyle Scott earned the win with a scoreless ninth inning.
Lynchburg Hillcats 5, Carolina Mudcats 1
Box Score · Hillcats improve to 34-22
Lynchburg was firing on all cylinders Tuesday with great pitching, hitting and baserunning. Four different players had multi-hit games, led by Luis Merejo, who went 2-for-4 with his sixth home run of the season, a stolen base and three runs batted in.
Jeffrey Mercedes went 2-for-4 with a double and Welbyn Francisca and Bennett Thompson both went 2-for-4 as well, although Francisca was caught stealing twice and was pulled from the game late. Hopefully he didn’t get hurt. Nick Mitchell also walked twice, stole two bases and scored three runs.
Starting pitcher Rafe Schlesinger tossed 4.0 shutout innings with a whopping eight strikeouts. He also gave up three hits and walked three.
Eudry Alcantara and Logan McGuire closed out the victory with two scoreless innings apiece.
ACL Guardians 12, ACL Mariners 4
Box Score · Guardians fall to 17-12
The ACL Guardians played home run derby on Tuesday. Dauri Fernandez led the way, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple and a walk. Fernandez just turned 18 in March and is slashing .393/.466/.1.095 as a switching-hitting second baseman. Keep an eye on this young man.
Also homering was 17-year-old Juneiker Caceres, who went 2-for-4 with a triple and a walk as well. Caceres is batting .309 with a .928 OPS as one of the youngest players in the ACL. He’s definitely worth paying attention to.
Outfielder Yeiferth Castillo went 2-for-3 with a home run, a sacrifice fly and three RBIs, raising his batting average to .311 and his OPS to .808. The offense appears to be loaded in Arizona.
Other standouts included Robert Arias, who went 1-for-3 with a walk and his 10th stolen base (.896 OPS).
A rehabbing Trevor Stephan allowed a pair of runs in one inning on three hits with two strikeouts. A rehabbing Jack Leftwich followed with a scoreless inning of relief.
Perhaps most exciting was the best appearance of the season from prep arm Joey Oakie, a top pick in Cleveland’s 2024 MLB draft. Oakie tossed 4.0 shutout innings of long relief with six strikeouts. He walked two and allowed two hits to earn the first win of his professional career.
