Cleveland Guardians minor league recap for Monday, May 12, 2025

Columbus Clippers 0, Indianapolis Indians 2

Box Score · Clippers fall to 16-20

Columbus was shut out Sunday on six hits. Half of those hits were courtesy of Christian Cairo, who went 3-for-5 with a stolen base. Unfortunately, the Clippers went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

Dom Nunez and Will Brennan both walked twice to reach base safely two times.

Starting pitcher Slade Cecconi had a decent game, just missing a quality start by one out. He allowed two runs on six hits with three strikeouts and no walks in 5.2 innings.

Parker Mushinski added a scoreless relief appearance and Bradley Hanner finished off the game with 2.0 perfect innings with three strikeouts.

Akron RubberDucks 2, Somerset Patriots 1

Box Score · RubberDucks improve to 21-12

This game was scoreless until the eighth inning, when Cooper Ingle blasted a two-run home run to knock home Cameron Barstad to give the RubberDucks a 2-0 lead.

Barstad went 2-for-3 while Dayan Frias walked twice. No one else reached base safely two times.

Starting pitcher Aaron Davenport was phenomenal again, throwing his second consecutive outing of 6.0 scoreless innings. This time he allowed two hits, struck out seven and walked two. Davenport might be a diamond in the rough for Cleveland if he can prove this is real at Triple-A soon.

Trenton Denholm finished off the game with 3.0 innings, striking out four and allowing one run in the ninth to earn the win and move to 5-0 on the season.

Lake County Captains 6, Quad Cities River Bandits 2

Lake County got some strong pitching and timely hitting in a solid win Sunday.

Christian Knapczyk continued his torid stretch, going 2-for-5 with a double and a stolen base. Jose Devers followed suit by going 2-for-5 with a double. Jacob Cozart doubled and knocked in three runs.

Juan Benjamin reached base safely three times, going 1-for-2 with two walks while Jonah Advincula tripled and had an outfield assist.

Starting pitcher Jackson Humphries dealt with some control issues, but kept runners from coming around to score. He allowed one run on two hits with four walks and five strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched.

Robert Wegielnik added 2.1 scoreless innings of long relief with three strikeouts and Kyle Scott earned the save with 3.0 innings, allowing one run on two hits with three strikeouts.

Lynchburg Hillcats 15, Fredericksburg Nationals 5

Box Score · Hillcats improve to 20-13

Leadoff hitter Tommy Hawke did what leadoff hitters do best on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with two walks and two stolen bases to absolutely terrorize Fredericksburg pitchers.

Christopher Espinola also stood out with a three-hit game that included a triple, three runs scored and three RBIs.

Luis Merejo reached base safely three times, going 1-for-4 with a double and two walks while catcher Robert Lopez walked three times. Yaikel Mijares went 1-for-3 with a double and two walks and Ryan Cesarini walked twice, was hit by a pitch and stole a base.
