News and Notes for Thursday, May 8th, 2025
The Cleveland Guardians are heading home to a much deserved off day with two series victories from the road trip. The Guards wrapped the short road trip up yesterday with a matinée game against the Washington Nationals. The Nationals came up short against the Guardians after Cleveland rallied in the sixth inning to put up eight runs. After a small hiccup from the bullpen in the seventh, the Guards remained victorious. beating the Nats 8-6. Full recap can be read here.

Micah Pries had himself a game for the Columbus Clippers. All runs scored came off the bat of Pries, securing the Clippers victory.

At the time of writing, the American League still runs through the Central. The Guardians are sitting at third in the AL, behind a red hot Seattle. The Guardians are closing in on the first place Detroit Tigers, but really need to start working on the run differential. The Guards are the only team in the top five in the AL with a negative run differential.
The Guardians will take on the Philadelphia Phillies tomorrow at 7:05 PM EDT. Gavin Williams is scheduled to start for Cleveland.

Andrew Benintendi has been placed on the 10-day IL for the Chicago White Sox with a left calf strain.
Kris Bryant’s cursed time with the Rockies continues. The veteran DH will undergo a procedure on his back.
Gincarlo Stanton is looking to return to the Yankees line up by the end of this month.
