The Long Ball And Rain Dampen The O’s
The Baltimore Orioles hoped to win a third game in a row on Saturday but rain and the Kansas City Royals had something to say to the contrary. The teams managed to finish the first inning before a 57 minute rain delay paused the festivities. In the end, the Orioles fell to the Royals 4-0.
Fortunately for both bullpens, the starters were able to resume their efforts following the rain delay. Baltimore’s starter, Tomoyuki Sugano (3-2), gave the team a quality start by allowing 2 runs on 4 hits (HR) with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts over 6.0 innings. Sugano took the loss because Kansas City pitching limited the Baltimore bats to 6 hits, all singles.
Seranthony Dominguez (0.2 IP, 2 R, 2 H (2 HR) gave up two homeruns, his first of the season, in the eighth inning.
Gunnar Henderson was most of the Baltimore offense, going 3 for 4.
Ryan O’Hearn (1 for 4), Ramon Laureano (1 for 3, BB) and Emmanuel Rivera (1 for 3) each singled.
