BREAKING: Mets Game Postponed; Doubleheader Sunday
The Mets-Cardinals Saturday matinee has been postponed due to rain. The two teams will make up the contest with a split-doubleheader on Sunday. The games will take place at 1:15 and 6:15 EST.
Thankfully for New York, Blade Tidwell was already set to make his major league debut tomorrow, so they won’t have to change any of their starting pitching plans for the weekend. The team has its next off day on Thursday so it will have to manage five scheduled games in four days. Tidwell will pitch Game 1 tomorrow and Tylor Megill will pitch Game 2.
As for St. Louis, their starting pitching plans will also remain stagnant. Erick Fedde will start the opener with Andre Pallante scheduled to pitch the nightcap.
The Mets are currently in the middle of a franchise-record nine-game winning streak against the Cardinals. To continue that streak past this weekend, they’re either going to have to sweep a doubleheader, or pray for some more rain.
