News and Notes for Saturday, April 28th, 2025

The Guardians played terribly on Sunday and lost 13-3 to the Red Sox. Nicole has your recap here.

After the game, Cleveland.com's Joe Noga reported manager Stephen Vogt as saying:

"That was a very uncharacteristic game of our guys."

Which is fine to say, but if I were there, I'd like to push back with: "Your team was ranked below average defensively and as one of the three worst baserunning teams in baseball. This is very characteristic so far. ...what are you going to do to fix it?"

My first suggestion is to stop having Bo Naylor throw to second when there is a runner on third. In this case, Daniel Schneemann bobbled the throw and threw wildly back but it's not working in general. My second suggestion is stop allowing your baserunners to be so aggressive that they make unforced outs at third base. It's maddening.

The Twins are coming to town on a bit of a high point and the season for them can turn if they can take a series from the Guardians, here. It's time to right this ship and crush their hopes and dreams.

Zack Meisel dove into the Emmanuel Clase shoulder/closer intrigue.

A Guardians fan decided to join in the embarrassing actions yesterday and take it to a new level by heckling Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran about his past suicide attempt. Hopefully this fan is not seen at Progressive Field for a long time.

Well... today is a new day.

AROUND MLB:

The Tigers shutout the Orioles and look very good. The Twins shutout the Angels. And the Royals lost.
