Mets Minors Recap: Williams Shines In Binghamton Win
While most of the Mets’ affiliates’ bats stayed quiet on Tuesday night, top prospect Jett Williams showed out. While picking up his first three-hit game of the 2025 campaign, all five of Williams’ tools were on showcase in Binghamton’s victory over New Hampshire.
Triple-A
Worcester Red Sox (11-9) 5 vs. Syracuse Mets (10-11) 0
BOX SCORE
- CF Drew Gilbert 0-for-3, 2 K (.583 OPS)
- 2B Jeff McNeil 0-for-4
- C Francisco Alvarez 0-for-3, BB, K
- LF Jared Young 1-for-2, 2B, BB, K (1.056 OPS)
The Syracuse Mets dropped their series opener against the Worcester Red Sox 5-0. Even with three rehabbing major leaguers, Syracuse still struggled to ignite their offense on Tuesday. Jeff McNeil and Francisco Alvarez continued their slow climb back to the Queens lineup, both anticipating a return to the majors in the coming days.
- RHP Justin Hagenman 4 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K (6.28 ERA)
- RHP Kevin Herget 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
Tuesday was Justin Hagenman’s first Triple-A appearance since his MLB debut. He was solid in his four innings on the mound but was not given any run support and was given the loss.
Double-A
New Hampshire Fisher Cats (6-7) 2, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (8-6) 6
BOX SCORE
- DH Jett Williams 3-for-5, 2 R, 3B, 2 RBI, K, 2 SB (4) (.909 OPS)
- RF Ryan Clifford 1-for-4, 2B, RBI, BB, 2 K (.751 OPS)
- 1B Nick Lorusso 3-for-4, RBI, BB, SB (.903 OPS)
Jett Williams came to play in Binghamton’s Tuesday victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. The 21-year-old collected three hits, including a fifth-inning triple, while stealing two bags, showcasing his plus speed. The Mets love seeing Williams get back into a groove after losing most of his 2024 season due to a wrist injury.
- RHP Jonah Tong 4.1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 9 K (5.40 ERA)
- RHP TJ Shook 1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
- RHP Cameron Foster 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
While he struck out nine Fisher Cats on Tuesday, Tong’s uneven start to the 2025 season continued. Tong has struggled with command, specifically his 12-6 curveball. Through three starts (13.1 IP), Tong has walked 10 batters but struck out 20.
High-A
Jersey Shore BlueClaws (6-10) 5, Brooklyn Cyclones (10-6) 1
BOX SCORE
- 3B Jacob Reimer 1-for-4, 2B, RBI, K (1.044 OPS)
- DH Jesus Baez 1-for-4, R, 2B (.552 OPS)
The Cyclones fell to the BlueClaws as the offense struggled for the second consecutive game. Jacob Reimer stayed hot and picked up his 10th extra-base hit with a ninth-inning double. At 21 years old, Reimer will presumably be one of the first names promoted to Double-A after his raging hot start to the season.
- RHP Noah Hall 4.0 IP , 7 H, 1 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, 4 K (1.45 ERA)
- RHP Dylan Ross 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K
Flamethrower Dylan Ross posted another scoreless outing for the Cyclones, lowering his season ERA to 1.45 through 6.2 IP.
Low-A
St. Lucie Mets (9-7) 3 Daytona Beach Tortugas (8-8) 2 Final In 10 Innings
BOX SCORE
- 2B Marco Vargas 1-for-5 , BB (1.127 OPS)
- 3B Colin Houck 1-for-4, R, HR (3), RBI, 3 K (.717 OPS)
The Low-A Mets earned a walk-off win over the Daytona Beach Tortugas in extra innings Tuesday evening. Despite the win, offense was tough to come by for St. Lucie, only picking up three hits. In the bottom of the 10th inning, the Mets worked three walks, plus an intentional walk, to bring around the tying and winning runs.
- RHP Nate Dohm 4 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K (3.52 ERA)
- RHP Irving Cota 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
Dohm was electric once again for St. Lucie, striking out seven batters in his first three innings on the mound. Through 15 1/3 innings this season, he has 19 strikeouts compared to only four walks.
