The affiliates went 7-17 games this week, but there were several strong individual performances

Charlotte Knights

Record 1-5 (last week), 7-14 (overall)

Knights Player of the Week

Bobby Dalbec .563/.588/1.125, 16 at-bats (promoted to Chicago on April 21)

Bryan Ramos .154/.353/.154, 13 at-bats
Colson Montgomery .292/.320/.417, 24 at-bats
Kyle Teel .278/.316/.500, 18 at-bats
Tim Elko .350/.458/.850, 17 at-bats

Owen White 5 IP, 7 ER, 9 H, 1 BB, 6 K
Justin Dunn 6 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 4 K
Jairo Iriarte 4 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 5 K
Chris Rodriguez 3 2⁄3 IP, 10 ER, 9 H, 4 BB, 3 K
Nick Nastrini 4 IP, 5 R (4 ER), 7 H, 1 BB, 3 K

After getting swept last week, the Knights failed to right the ship, losing five of six against the Nashville Sounds (12-8).

Despite the 1-5 week, the offense scored 31 runs (5.17 per game). The strong performance at the plate was led by Bobby Dalbec, who went 9-for-16 with two homers and three doubles. Dalbec, 29, overall has had a flaming-hot April, and his OPS is up to 1.050 for the season. Dalbec has not gotten serious playing time in the majors since 2022, but on Monday, the White Sox announced that he has earned a promotion. Congratulations to Dalbec on the getting back into the majors, and hopefully he will remain there for a long time.

Tim Elko, 26, remained hot, finishing 7-for-20 with three homers, and he is the clear Runner-Up in this week’s Charlotte rankings. Even though Andrew Vaughn went deep on Sunday, it is difficult to find a good reason why Elko still has not been promoted.

Colson Montgomery, 23, has a pulse, as he had a decent .737 OPS during the week. Overall, Montgomery went 7-for-24 with a home run and a walk — although the strikeouts were still an issue, as he went down on strikes nine times.

Tim Elko (April 7-13)
Bobby Dalbec (April 14-20)

Birmingham Barons

Record 2-4 (last week), 7-7 (overall)

Barons Player of the Week

Tyler Schweitzer 5 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 3 BB, 5 K (promoted to Charlotte on April 20)

Rikuu Nishida .235/.458/.294, 5-for-5 stolen bases, 17 at-bats
Jacob Gonzalez .294/.429/.353, 17 at-bats
Oscar Colás .067/.125/.067, 15 at-bats
William Bergolla .333/.375/.400, 15 at-bats

Hagen Smith 5 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 5 K
Noah Schultz 3 2⁄3 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 5 BB, 2 K
Wikelman González 9 IP, 3 ER, 7 H, 7 BB, 12 K
Andrew Dalquist 3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 5 K
Riley Gowens 2⁄3 IP, 4 ER, 4 H, 3 BB, 0 K

The Barons lost their series against the Shuckers (6-9), 4-2. At first, Biloxi had the upper hand, holding the Barons to only one total run in the first two games. However, the Barons did not lie down, and they nearly tied the series up. Ultimately, though, the Shuckers defeated the Barons in a nail-biter on Sunday to take the series.

Starting pitcher Tyler Schweitzer, 24, who was born within a few miles of the South Side Sox Indianapolis Field Office, was unhittable during his start on Wednesday. Just as he did last week, Schweitzer allowed zero earned runs and only two hits in five innings. It is still early, but Schweitzer is off to a fantastic start this season (10 innings, 0.00 ERA, 2.03 FIP, 11.7 K/9). Schweitzer is No. 23 on both South Side Sox’s and MLB Pipeline’s Top 30 White Sox prospects, and his stock is certainly trending in the right direction. On Sunday, Schweitzer earned a promotion to Triple-A Charlotte. Only one level to go before Schweitzer finds himself in the majors.

William Bergolla (April 7-13)
Tyler Schweitzer (April 14-20)

Winston-Salem Dash

Record 2-4 (last week), 5-10 (overall)

Dash Player of the Week

Lucas Gordon 6 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 9 K

Ryan Galanie .321/.367/.607, 28 at-bats,
Jeral Perez .238/.292/.810, 21 at-bats
Caden Connor .238/.407/.381, 21 at-bats
Sam Antonacci .200/.310/.320, 25 at-bats

Shane Murphy 5 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, 2 BB, 3 K
Jake Bockenstedt 4 2⁄3 IP, 4 ER, 3 H, 4 BB, 5 K
Tanner McDougal 4 2⁄3 IP, 1 R (0 ER), 4 H, 4 BB, 7 K
Seth Keener 7 2⁄3 IP, 9 ER, 12 H, 2 BB, 8 K

Winston-Salem dropped another series, as they only won two out of six against the Greenville Drive (7-7). The Dash had their chances, as they had a 2-1 series lead before dropping three consecutive one-run games.

Starting pitcher Lucas Gordon, 23, could not have performed much better, as he only allowed one measly hit across six shutout innings. Gordon also racked up nine strikeouts, and he is averaging 12.5 strikeouts per nine innings and only 2.6 walks per nine this season. In 2024, Gordon averaged 7.8 strikeouts and 4.9 walks per nine, so he is doing much better in both categories.

Jake Bockenstedt (April 7-13)
Lucas Gordon (April 14-20)

Kannapolis Cannon Ballers

Record 2-4 (last week) 7-8 (overall)

Cannon Ballers Player of the Week

Caleb Bonemer .471/.615/.765, 3-for-5 stolen bases, 17 at-bats

Javier Mogollón .143/.280/.286, 1-for-2 stolen bases, 21 at-bats
Braden Montgomery .353/.500/.765, 3-for-4 stolen bases, 17 at-bats
Nathan Archer .389/.500/.611, 6-for-6 stolen bases, 18 at-bats
George Wolkow .150/.217/.300, 3-for-3 stolen bases, 20 at-bats

Nick Punto 6 IP, 3 R (2 ER), 5 H, 1 BB, 6 K
Ricardo Brizuela 4 1⁄3 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 5 K
Luis Reyes 5 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 4 K
Justin Sinibaldi 4 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 4 K

The Cannon Ballers dropped four of six to the Fireflies (9-6) to fall back below .500 on the season.

Even though Kannapolis lost the series, shortstop and third baseman Caleb Bonemer, 19, could not be stopped. Bonemer finished the week 8-for-17 with seven walks, three doubles, and a triple. That incredible performance at the plate resulted in a sky-high 1.380 OPS. Three of those walks came in the final game of the series, when Bonemer also picked up a double to reach base safely four times. By the time Sunday came around, the Fireflies did not want to take any chances with Bonemer, and it is hard to blame them.

Outfielder Braden Montgomery, who is No. 5 on MLB Pipeline’s Top 30 White Sox prospects, also had an excellent performance. Montgomery, who turned 22 on Wednesday, finished the week with the same slugging percentage as Bonemer. Montgomery launched a pair of homers and drove in six to give the Cannon Ballers offense a boost.
