Morning Briefing: Soto Appreciates Standing Ovation
Good morning, Mets fans!
I hope you all enjoyed Easter, Passover, or just a relaxing weekend. While doing so, I hope you were able to watch the Mets brilliantly execute a four-game sweep of the Cardinals.
This is the Mets’ first four-game sweep of the Cardinals since 1986 (I’m pretty sure that ended up being a decent year…) and the first time they’ve ever done it at home.
The Mets just threw down their first 4-game sweep of the Cardinals since April 24-27, 1986

Francisco Lindor hit a leadoff home run to get the party started on Sunday. This was his second homer of the series, with the first coming in a walk-off on Friday night. That was his first walk-off home run as a Met, and his 250th homer in an already legendary career.
Sunday was a good day for the superstar who came to Queens from the Bronx, as Juan Soto went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, a run and a walk.
Soto mentioned in an interview after the game on Sunday that he was really excited that the fans got up and gave him a standing ovation during the Cardinals series. He cited that he doesn’t think the fans understand how much that positivity means to the players.
"I really appreciate what they did. I feel like they don't know how meaningful that is. It means a lot to the players when they do that."

If you were at the game and joined in the cheering, great job! For those going to games in the future, let’s keep the positivity going.
