The Dragons’ rotation have put up some impressive performances in the early goings of 2025.

Louisville Bats

Louisville went 3-3 on the weekend in their series against the Indianapolis Indians. Outside of a few individual games, there weren’t a ton of standout offensive performances. Ivan “The Great” Johnson continued his solid start to the season by hitting a couple home runs and driving in 6. Will “Carry on my wayward” Benson returned to Louisville after watching a few Reds games and went 4 for 4 with a home run and 4 RBI on Saturday. Tyler “Brake Pads” Callihan collected 7 hits on the week, including a double and a home run on Wednesday.

On the mound, Chase Petty Theft bounced back after a tough week. He started 2 games and allowed only 1 run over 9 innings with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts. Aaron Wilkerson had his 2nd straight scoreless start on Saturday, throwing 5 innings and allowing 4 hits, no walks, and striking out 4. Lenny “Henny” Torres, Jr threw 1.2 innings of relief last week, allowing no runs and no hits while striking out 2. The next run he gives up this season will be his first.

Chattanooga Lookouts

Chattanooga had a rough week, going 2-4 against the Birmingham Barons including a 14-2 drubbing to finish the week off. Sly Sal Stewart, however, had a solid week. He had two separate 3-hit games, capped off by a walk-off grand slam on Saturday afternoon. Ruben Ibarra had only 4 hits on the week but 3 of them were doubles so he made them count while Michael “Ehrman” Trautwein hit his first home run of the season on Wednesday.

Jose Franco had himself a nice start on Saturday, throwing 4 innings of scoreless, hitless ball while striking out 4. Donovan “Bonjour” Benoit allowed only 1 run in 4.2 innings of relief this week.

Chattanooga heads up the road to Knoxville for this week’s series.

Dayton Dragons

Dayton went 3-3 on the week against the Fort Wayne TinCaps and had some solid pitching performances along the way. Nestor “Just met her” Lorant started off the week with his first start of the season, allowing only 1 run in 5 innings while striking out 6. Jose Montero followed that up with 5 shutout innings with 5 strikeouts on Wednesday in his season debut. Luke Hayden came out on Thursday and just copied and pasted Montero’s stats from Wednesday with his own 5 inning, no run, 5 strikeout performance. Chase Feel The Burns only went 3.2 innings on Friday but he struck out 7 along the way. The TinCaps gave him a little more trouble than his previous opponent, as they collected 2 hits and 2 walks against him. On Saturday, Adam Serwinowski put up his second straight scoreless outing, going 4 innings and allowing a hit and a walk with 6 strikeouts.

At the plate, Yerlin Confidan had 5 hits on the week, including a double and a home run. Ricardo “Honey Badger” Cabrera had a couple of 2-hit games, including a 2 double performance on Thursday and Anthony Stephan had a 3-hit night on Thursday.

Daytona Tortugas

Daytona went 2-4 on the week but, unlike the rest of their organizational brethren, actually put up some runs. Ryan McCrystal “Burgers” had quite the week, going 7 for 14 with a double, a home run, and 5 RBI. Carlos Sanchez had 6 hits on the week with a triple and 5 RBI. Carter Graham Cracker knocked his first dinger of the season and Kyle Henley had a couple of 2-hit nights and drove in a pair.

On the mound, 2023 second rounder Ty Fly Floyd made his second appearance of the season after his return from Tommy John surgery and it went much better. He went 3 innings and allowed only a solo home run as his only blemish while walking none and striking out 6. Luke “That’s just like your opinion” Holman also made his second start of the year, allowing only a run on 1 hit with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts over 5 innings of work.

Daytona heads to Jupiter to get more stupider and take on the Hammerheads this week.
