White Sox Weekly Minor League Update: April 7-13, 2025
The Barons and Cannon Ballers took steps in the right direction. As for the Knights and Dash, not so much

It was quite a rough week for the Knights, who lost all six games they played. On Sunday, it appeared that they would break their losing streak, as they took a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth. It is worth noting that Colson Montgomery woke up and homered that game to help the Knights take that lead. However, the Jumbo Shrimp rallied to walk it off and complete the sweep.
Many Knights hitters struggled to reach base safely this week, but first baseman Tim Elko, 26, did not. Although Elko did not draw any walks, he had quite a week offensively, finishing 7-for-17 with a pair of doubles. The Knights have enjoyed Elko’s production in the middle of the lineup, and one has to wonder how long Elko will remain in the minors while Andrew Vaughn struggles.

The Barons had a solid week, finishing on a strong note to go 4-2 in their series against the Lookouts. On Sunday, the Barons won by a score of 14-2, and that great day was capped off by an eight-run sixth inning.
Infielder William Bergolla had a fantastic performance, finishing 7-for-19 with three doubles, four walks, and only one strikeout. Bergolla also swiped four bases and did not get caught stealing. Bergolla does not have much power, but he is good at getting on base, and when he does, his speed is a major threat.
Rikuu Nishida has a similar profile to Bergolla in that his speed and contact abilities provide his best path to the majors. This week, Nishida’s production was quite similar to Bergolla, as Nishida also gave the Barons offense a sizable boost.

Winston-Salem is off to a slow start this season, and they lost five out of six against Greensboro. They did have a dominant 10-4 victory on Sunday to salvage one win.
Starting pitcher Jack Bockenstedt was on top of his game, and he was a major reason why Winston-Salem managed to win on Sunday. Bockenstedt made two starts this week, and both of them went quite well. Overall, Bockenstedt only allowed one run on five hits in 10 innings, and without him, this week of Dash baseball would have been much uglier.

Aric McAtee 5 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 4 K
Manuel Veloz 5 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 2 K
The Cannon Ballers performed admirably against the Hillcats, winning four of six to improve to 5-4 on the season.
Jordan Sprinkle was an on-base machine, posting a .600 OBP to go along with seven stolen bases without getting caught. Sprinkle struggled with Winston-Salem last year, but he is off to a flaming hot start with Kannapolis. Sprinkle does not have much power, but his abilities to make contact and steal bases allow him to make a positive impact. Those abilities were in full force this week, and his numbers reflect that.
Javier Mogollon, who snuck into MLB Pipeline’s top 30 White Sox prospects at No. 25, deserves honorable mention. Mogollon also had a terrific week, but his impact was not quite as large as Sprinkle’s. Starter Christian Oppor also deserves honorable mention, as he was mowing down hitters left and right during his start.
