White Sox Reacts Survey: season wins
At 2-7 and projected for 36 wins, how have your expectations changed?
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the MLB. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Chicago White Sox fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
So, here we are, just nine games into the season and riding a five-game losing streak. We enjoyed a record-tying four-game streak for the starting rotation (ZERO earned runs) and yet won just two of those games. The two wins were laffers, which equals the total routs by the 2024 White Sox; that indicates that the offense may have a bit more bluster than a year ago.
But overall, things are pretty ugly, as the rotation is weak, the bullpen weaker, and the hitting dismal. There are reinforcements in Charlotte who may be arriving soon (Chase Meidroth, Edgar Quero, Kyle Teel) and the possibility that Hagen Smith makes an aggressive jump from Double-A to the South Side (a la Drew Thorpe in 2024) at midseason, but overall there is no one out there who can rescue the White Sox from another 100+ losses — and potentially a run at last year’s record 121.
Thus, we arrive at our survey this week:
