Guardians News and Notes
News and Notes for Friday, April 4th, 2025
It was a slow day on Thursday as the Guardians are traveling all the way from San Diego to...Los Angeles to play the Angels in a 3 game series. I was hoping to be able to at least watch some baseball but the Columbus Clippers game was postponed due to weather. That has been rescheduled for a double header starting Friday, April 4th, at 5:05 pm eastern time. It should be a good one as Doug Nikhazy will be on the mound.
A few minor league roster moves were announced:
- RHP Carter Spivey has been transfered from Akron to Columbus
- RHP Mason Hickman has been placed on the Development List in Columbus
- RHP Austin Aldeano has been transferred from the ACL to Lynchburg
- RHP Julio Zapata has been placed on the 7-Day Injured List in Lynchburg
The Cleveland Guardians Player Development System has announced the following moves:

Today feels like Christmas Day for me as it is Opening Day for all Minor League teams below the AAA level. I am so excited to watch our top prospects play. It’s the perfect time to have the Guardians on a west coast trip because all of the minor league games start between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm eastern, meaning they will likely all be over just in time for the Guardians game to start. Anyone else love 7 straight hours of baseball or is that just me?
The Guardians will have Gavin Williams on the mound tonight against the Angels in what will be their home opener at 9:38 pm eastern time. The Guardians will be facing off against Jose Soriano who threw 7 scoreless innings in his season debut against the White Sox. It should be a really fun game!
