Morning Briefing: Jacob deGrom Strong in 2025 Rangers Debut
Good morning, Mets fans!
The Amazins’ had a rare Sunday off-day following their series against the Astros to kick off the season, and that lack of action had us all feeling like this:

However, one noteable former Met was in action, and was dealing at that. Jacob deGrom made his 2025 season debut for the Rangers in a home tilt against the Red Sox, and did so with authority.
DeGrom tossed five scoreless innings with six strikeouts. He only allowed two hits and two walks. All of his strikeouts came via the swing and miss, with two off changeups and the remaining four from his famous slider.

This was deGrom’s first appearance of five innings or more since April 23, 2023. In that affair he tossed six innings with 11 strikeouts and two earned runs against the Athletics.
DeGrom has struggled with injuries since signing a five-year, $185 million dollar contract with the Rangers entering the 2023 season. This was the two-time Cy Young award winner’s 10th start in a Rangers uniform.
