The boys played some ball late and snared their first W of the season

For the first time in their last ten home games, the Royals came out winners. Dating back to last season, the Royals had lost three games in a row, and their last nine games inside Kauffman Stadium.

Saturday wasn’t looking to good as they fell behind 3-1 through five innings. But Salvador Perez hit his second RBI single of the day to pull the Royals back within a run. After loading up the bases, MJ Melendez would end the 6th inning with a popout.

The bottom of the 7th is when the heroics came. Maikel Garcia led off the inning with a laser off the left field foul pole to tie the game up.

Cavan Biggio would get his first hit as a Royal, with a single right after the homer. Dairon Blanco would pitch run for Biggio and steal second, with one out. After an out from India, the Guardians would bring in Hunter Gaddis to try and get Bobby Witt Jr. out to end the frame.

However, Bobby Baseball does what he does and came through with a double down the left field line. It was the first RBI and extra base hit for the superstar shortstop this year.

Lucas Erceg (hold) and Carlos Estévez (save) would each pitch a scoreless inning and the Royals were able to secure their first victory of the 2025 season. Seth Lugo got the start for the Royals and went 5 innings, giving up four hits and three runs. He walked three batters and struck out four. Daniel Lynch IV went two innings, retiring every batter he faced, Lynch IV got the win today as well.

Player of the Day:

This could go to two different ways as Lynch IV was pivotal in relief when the Royals needed some shutdown innings. But left fielder Jonathan India was very very impressive at the plate today. He went 2-3, with a walk and a run scored. But all four of his at bats, India battled and was a tough out, something the Royals are going to need out of their leadoff hitter this year.

Next Up:

Something else of note is that Jose Ramirez left the game early due to a sprained wrist after he was caught stealing to end the 3rd inning. He is unlikely to play tomorrow and depending on severity, the Royals might avoid having to play against him in Cleveland in a couple of weeks.

The Royals will look to win the series tomorrow afternoon with first pitch set for 1:10 p.m. at Kauffman Stadium.
