Morning Briefing: Kodai Senga Will Have Pitch Count Limit
Good morning, Mets fans!
Tim Healey of Newsday reported the Mets are placing RHP Kodai Senga on a pitch count limit to begin the 2025 season. According to team sources, Senga will be held to around 75 pitches in his first start (tentatively in Miami), whereas the other starters will throw their standard 95-100 pitches.
Senga only appeared in one regular season game in 2024 and three playoff games (five innings). While he was sharp in his only regular season start, he wasn’t his usual self in October. Because of all his injuries (strained shoulder and calf strain), the hope is for Senga to garner a baseline and eventually work back up to his normal length of work per start.
