The Latest Phillies Injury Updates
- Matt Strahm (left shoulder impingement)
- Status: Day-to-day
- Matt Strahm has not pitched in a Grapefruit League game since March 5. He is dealing with some inflammation in his left shoulder. An MRI revealed no structural damage, per MLB.com‘s Todd Zolecki. He will be shut down from throwing until at least Thursday. His status for Opening Day is unclear.
- Strahm has been remarkably healthy in his first two seasons with the Phillies. Issues with both knees plagued him earlier in his career. His last injured list stint came in the summer of 2022, when he missed just over a month with the Boston Red Sox due to a wrist contusion. — Last Updated March 10 by Destiny Lugardo
- Johan Rojas (right shoulder discomfort)
- Status: Limited to DH in Grapefruit League games
- Johan Rojas has yet to play center field this spring. That is because he suffered a shoulder injury sliding into second base while playing in the Dominican Winter League playoffs.
- “We’re just being precautionary, really,” manager Rob Thomson told reporters in Port Charlotte on Tuesday, Feb. 25. “It’s probably going to be another close to a week before he throws, but it’ll be a quick ramp-up I would think. And he’s getting plenty of at-bats.” — Last Updated March 10 by Destiny Lugardo
- Weston Wilson (left oblique strain)
- Status: Out six weeks, will begin the season on 10-day injured list
- Weston Wilson was one of the front runners to win the last bench spot as a fourth or fifth right-handed hitting infield/outfield option. He’ll have to wait a little longer to make an impact with the big league club. The 30-year-old will open the season on the injured list with an oblique strain. Wilson felt something while hitting in the batting cages on February 21.
- Wilson told reporters, including MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki, that the injury was “a freak accident.” “I didn’t feel anything before, so, like, nothing warning me,” Wilson said, “Disappointment, I would say, is the biggest word. It sucks. I was really looking forward to starting the year. I felt really good about breaking with the team.” — Last Updated Feb. 24 by Destiny Lugardo
