They have uniforms and everything.

Yet another Spring Training game is in the books as Kansas City took down Seattle 9-6. What happened?

  • Michael Lorenzen worked three innings in his Spring Training debut. He struck out three batters, all on changeups while garnering four whiffs on the pitch. He threw it six times so that’s a meaty whiff rate. His four-seamer topped out at 94.5. His lone blemish came on that pitch when Julio Rodríguez took one at the top of the zone out to left-center for a homer.
  • Kris Bubic mixed eight sinkers and four cutters amongst his 38 pitches, which is interesting because I didn’t know he threw those.
  • MJ Melendez hit his second homer of the spring on a 91 mph cutter up and in. Later in the game he struck out on three pitches against a lefty, with the putaway pitch a slider down and away.
  • Vinnie Pasquantino put on a laser show, smacking a hard sinker back up the middle at 111.7 and later roping a double to right at 103.1. The former was the hardest hit ball of the game.
  • Joey Weimer hit his first spring homer on a hanging curveball from somebody named Tyler Cleveland. He struck out on breaking balls low and away in his other two plate appearances.
  • Late in the game, Jac Caglianone and Nick Pratto were on the field at the same time. Pratto played left field while Caglianone manned first base. For all the talk of potentially trying Cags in the outfield, he has only played first so far this spring.

The Royals will be back in action tomorrow night against the Cubs.
