USA name roster for WBSC Men's Softball World Cup Finals in quest to reclaim World Title
USA Softball announced the U.S. Men’s National Team roster set to compete in the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Finals later this year. Slated for July 8-13, the 16-player roster will travel to Prince Albert, Canada where they will look to stand on top of the podium for the first time since 1988. The U.S. Men’s National Team will also travel to Chengdu, China in August to compete in The World Games 2025.
USA recently led an undefeated campaign at the 2024 WBSC World Cup Group C last year in Oklahoma City where they secured participation in the Finals.
“We’re excited for this group leading into what will be an exciting and challenging summer,” said head coach, Ron Hackett. “With that being said, make no mistake - our goals and expectations don’t change, and we intend to compete for a gold medal at the upcoming World Cup Finals. This roster and coaching staff are ready and willing to put in the work needed to achieve that goal.”

Ron Hackett is set to return as head coach for his fourth stint, bringing valuable experience after successfully leading the 2022 men's national team to a historic bronze medal finish at the WBSC World Cup, which marked the end of an 18-year medal drought for the programme. He will be joined in Canada by returning assistant coaches Greg Hicks, Gerald Muizelaar, and Roman Foore.
The 2025 U.S. roster for the Finals features 12 returners from the 2024 season, where the Eagles secured the top spot in Group C. The roster also includes Junior Men’s National Team stars Braden and Brennan DuCharme, as well as former U-23 men's national team member Tyler Damon. Additionally, Brad Kilpatrick returns to the field after being part of the historic 2022 squad.
The first of its kind to be played under the new two-stage format, the WBSC Men's Softball World Cup Finals will include six games in each group as world-ranked No. 6 USA will open the tournament in Group B alongside No. 2 Australia, No. 3 Japan, and No. 11 Dominican Republic, while No. 1 Argentina, No. 4 Canada, No. 5 Venezuela, and No. 8 New Zealand will battle it out in Group A. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Round for a chance to compete in the Medal Round.
