The Cactus League continues against the Angels.

Despite yesterday’s sleepy 5-2 loss to the Padres, it was still a treat to see real live practice baseball on our screens. Today the M’s will look to bounce back against the Angels at Tempe Diablo Stadium, and there are a couple of names in the lineup today that are worth keeping an extra eye on.

atMariners

Víctor Robles at leadoff is always a treat to see, and Lazaro Montes gets his first start of the spring, batting sixth and patrolling right field. Harry Ford will also be behind the dish to start, and Logan Evans, who saw his prospect stock climb tremendously last season at Double-A Arkansas, will begin the game on the mound. Slated to follow Evans are Casey Lawrence, Carlos Vargas, Neftali Felíz (!), Hagen Danner, Tyler Cleveland, and Peyton Alford as the only scheduled southpaw. All but Vargas and Danner are non-roster invitees, so if you’re curious about any of these pitchers as they come in, don’t forget to check out our guide to Seattle’s 2025 NRIs.

As for the Angels, they’ll be rolling out a lineup that you may see fairly regularly for them in 2025, minus one Mike Trout, who has recently moved from center field to right in an effort to sustain his health.

Righty Jack Kochanowicz gets the start in Anaheim’s first game of the spring, and you may remember the Mariners roughing him up for five runs over three innings in his big league debut. I’d happily take a redux of that. Following Kochanowicz will be Garrett McDaniels, Caden Dana, Víctor Mederos, Jack Dashwood, Cam Minacci, and Ryan Costeiu.

Today’s first pitch will be at 12:10pm Pacific time, or 1:10pm Mountain time if you’re down in Peoria, though keep in mind that this discrepancy will only be around for a few more weeks, as Daylight Savings Time goes into effect in the wee hours of Sunday, March 9th. In a somewhat pleasant surprise, you’ll be able to watch today’s game on MLB.tv, though unfortunately, it’s only the Angels’ broadcast. Boo. If you’re on the go or don’t want to subject yourself to Wayne Randazzo and friends, you’ll be able to listen live on 710 AM Seattle Sports, with Rick Rizzs and Gary Hill Jr. broadcasting the action as is tradition.
