Photos from PSL: Mets New & Old Ring in the Spring
The Mets’ first official full-squad workout this spring isn’t until Monday, but a majority of the team has already gathered down in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
With that, let’s take a look at a few of the great photos taken by MMO photographer Ed Delany on Friday. Make sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to see the rest of the pictures.

Sean Manaea is back with the Mets after signing a three-year, $75 million contract as a free agent in December.
The left-hander became a fan favorite last season, posting a 3.47 ERA in 32 starts and 181 2/3 innings. He’ll likely slot in near the top of New York’s rotation in 2025 alongside Kodai Senga as he looks to repeat his prior success with the club.
Griffin Canning

The Mets signed right-hander Griffin Canning to a one-year deal in December that’s worth $4.25 million and includes up to $1 million in bonuses.
The 28-year-old and former second-round pick had a rough go of it with the Los Angeles Angels last season, recording a 5.19 ERA and 5.26 FIP over 32 appearances (31 starts). He was traded to the Atlanta Braves at the beginning of the offseason for Jorge Soler before getting designated for assignment.
Canning is valuable depth who could operate as a swingman for New York in 2025.
Nick Madrigal

On Jan. 31, Nick Madrigal agreed to a one-year split contract with the Mets worth a base value of $1.35 million if he’s in the majors.
The No. 4 overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, he was a top prospect in the Chicago White Sox’s system before being sent to the Chicago Cubs for Craig Kimbrel at the 2021 trade deadline.
Madrigal batted .251/.304/.312 across 202 total contests with the Cubs. His experience at second and third base could potentially land him a spot on New York’s bench come Opening Day.

Ronny Mauricio is continuing his recovery from a torn ACL he sustained during winter ball that wiped out his entire 2024 campaign.
The 23-year-old made his big league debut on Sept. 1, 2023, appearing in 26 games down the stretch that season while hitting .248/.296/.347 with two home runs, nine RBIs and seven stolen bases.
Manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters that it’s unlikely Mauricio will play in any spring training exhibitions until mid-March.
Jeff McNeil

Jeff McNeil arrived to camp on Friday as he looks to rebound from what was an uneven year for the former batting champion.
In the first half, McNeil slashed .216/.276/.314 over 323 plate appearances. Once the All-Star break passed, he turned on the jets by slashing .289/.376/.547, though he was limited to just 149 plate appearances after breaking his wrist on a hit-by-pitch in early September.
The 32-year-old is entering the third year of a $50 million extension he agreed to in February 2023. The deal could run out after 2026, though it also includes a club option for 2027 at $15.75 million.
