Ned Yost returns to Royals as special advisor
The championship-winning manager brings his expertise to the front office.
The Royals have brought back former manager Ned Yost to serve in the front office as a senior advisor. Yost led the team from 2010 to 2019 and is the all-time franchise leader in wins by a manager with 746. He won two pennants, winning the World Series over the Mets in 2015.
In a press release, Yost reaffirmed his commitment to the franchise and the city.
“My deep love for the Royals, for Kansas City, and for the people there never left,” Yost said. “So I just want to help, because I know I can help. I know what it takes to build a world championship club, and I think we’re getting close. I think we’re getting really close.”
Yost was inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame in 2023.
The Royals have a number of former players and coaches in the front office serving as special advisors including Willie Aikens, Mike Sweeney, Reggie Sanders, and Rusty Kuntz. Hall of Famer George Brett also serves as Vice President of Baseball Operations.
Since retiring, Yost returned to his farm in Georgia to try his hand at canning vegetables. He is also an avid hunter, nearly dying after he fell from a tree trying to secure a hunting stand.
