This ranking is consistent with others released this offseason, including ESPN and The Athletic, who ranked the Mets ninth and 15th, putting them just on the plus side of the median of Major League Baseball.

The BA ranking pointed to many of the Mets’ top prospects, including Jett Williams, Christian Scott and Ronny Mauricio missing time with injuries in 2024. In fact, the only rookie position player who played for the Mets in a regular season game last year was Luisangel Acuña, who was forced into action amid a disappointing season in Triple-A after Francisco Lindor hurt his back in September. Acuña did play well in a short sample size, slashing .308/.325/.641, and helped the Mets make the playoffs.

Williams, Brandon Sproat, Jesus Baez, Maurico and Nolan McLean rounded out the top five in the club rankings. Other notables included Acuña at eight, Scott at 11 and Blake Tidwell at 14. Ryan Clifford and Drew Gilbert, the two prospects acquired in the Justin Verlander trade in 2023, were ranked sixth and tenth, respectively.

Other notable teams on the list include the Red Sox at 1, even after trading four prospects for Garrett CrochetThe Dodgers, after adding Roki Sasaki, were ranked third. The Mets did come up on top in their division, with the Nationals, Phillies, Marlins, and Braves ranked 14th, 20th, 21st, and 28th, respectively. The Angels’ farm system ranked dead last.
