Morning Briefing: Top Remaining Starter Taken Off The Market

0 2

Good morning, Mets fans!

The Tigers have agreed to a two-year, $35 million contract with right-hander Jack Flaherty. The contract contains an opt-out clause after the 2025 season. Flaherty will make $25 million in 2025, and his $10 million player option for 2026 will get raised to $20 million if he makes 15 starts this year.

The 29-year-old signed a one-year deal with Detroit last offseason and bounced back from a rocky 2023, posting a 3.17 ERA with 194 strikeouts against 38 walks in 162 innings. The Tigers dealt him to the Dodgers at the trade deadline in exchange for Thayron Liranzo and Trey Sweeney.

Flaherty was easily one of the top, if not the top pitching option still left on the market with only a few weeks until spring training.
