Mayaguez Indios win Puerto Rico "Roberto Clemente" pro league

Mayaguez Indios defeated San Juan Senatores in six games to win the best-of-nine final series of the Puerto Rico Roberto Clemente Professional League and claim the Copa Brava Lubricants 2024-2025. It's their 20th league title. Mayaguez succeeded Caguas Criollos.

The Indios won the rubber match in San Juan, 5-2.

Mayaguez shortstop Isan Diaz put the Indios on the scoreboard in Game Six with a two-run homer off San Juan starter Miguel Martinez in the top of the second. The shortstop earned the series MVP honours.

Isan Diaz started seven games, three at DH and four at second base, for Puerto Rico in the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup 2018.

Anthony Garcia, the season's MVP, added a solo shot, and Danny Ortiz made it 4-0 with another homer. The fifth run came on a fielding error.

Mayaguez starter Eduardo Rivera pitched five scoreless innings to earn the win. The Senadores got on the scoreboard in the sixth and loaded the bases in the ninth. Justin Yeager worked the final out to earn his fourth save of the series.

The Indios dominated the final series but failed to celebrate the title at the Isidoro Cholo Garcia Stadium in Mayaguez. San Juan won the fifth game, 7-5, thriving on four defensive errors.
