Mayer: Mets Legitimate Candidates to Land Alex Bregman

The Mets continue to show interest in Alex Bregman, and are a legitimate potential landing spot for the infielder, according to Metsmerized’s own Mike Mayer.

The Mets have been linked to Bregman throughout the offseason, and an update from Mayer solidifies the seriousness of their interest.

Bregman had another strong season for Houston in 2024, slashing .260/.315/.453 with 26 homers. The third baseman is also a plus defender, registering six outs above average and winning his first gold glove last season.

If signed, Bregman would slot over to third base, leaving first in question. Mark Vientos is an in-house candidate and has played the position at the major league level.

A Pete Alonso reunion is also another solution at first base, but the want for a long contract still leaves a return in question.
