CARL ALBERT STATE COLLEGE HONORS ALUMNI, WALL OF HONOR RECIPIENTS WITH PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS AT ANNUAL CEREMONY
[Poteau, OK] — Carl Albert State College recently celebrated the achievements of its distinguished alumni during the annual Alumni Awards Ceremony. The ceremony honored individuals whose careers and community contributions reflect the college’s commitment to excellence, service, and leadership.
This year’s Wall of Honor Service Awards were presented to Mark D. Allen, Dana Dinsmore Davis, Bill Day, and Paula Baxter Reif. Each awardee has made significant strides in education, community service, and industry, demonstrating the lasting impact of their time at Carl Albert State College. The Distinguished Alumnus Award was presented to Kreg Haney, whose dedication to economic development and community well-being exemplifies outstanding leadership and commitment to improving the lives of others.
Wall of Honor Service Award Recipients
Mark D. Allen
A lifelong Oklahoman, Allen served in the U.S. Navy Seabees. His career includes extensive contributions in Oklahoma’s oil and gas industry and public service, including three terms as an Oklahoma State Senator, where he championed transportation, energy, and veterans’ issues. Allen’s dedication to his community continues through his work with local organizations, including his role on the LeFlore County Republicans Committee and as a delegate to the GOP National Convention.
Dana Dinsmore Davis
An accomplished music educator, Davis began her journey in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, eventually pursuing music education. Her 25 years as a Carl Albert State College music instructor included directing the New Horizon Show Choir and co-directing musicals. Davis continues to inspire students and the community as a music and humanities teacher and church worship leader.
Bill Day
Day’s 50-year career in education began in 1969 and includes developing acclaimed speech and debate programs across Oklahoma. His career at Carl Albert State College earned him accolades, such as Teacher of the Year, and his commitment to community service extends through roles on the Roland City Council and the Roland Alumni Association.
Paula Baxter Reif
Reif’s career in education began at Carl Albert State College, where she dedicated nearly 30 years to teaching and mentoring. After retiring, Reif continues to impact students and her community with her enduring support of family and education. She and her husband Dr. Richard Reif have made their mark in higher education administration, and Paula continues her family legacy on the Baxter family farm in Spiro, Oklahoma.
Distinguished Alumnus Award Recipient
Kreg Haney
Haney, Senior Manager of Economic Development for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, has consistently focused on job creation, business retention, and economic growth in LeFlore County and the Choctaw Nation Reservation. An accomplished economic developer, Haney is also a dedicated community volunteer, a certified professional in multiple fields, and an adjunct professor. His devotion to community, professional excellence, and mentorship underscores his deserving recognition as the Distinguished Alumnus of Carl Albert State College.
“We are proud to honor these alumni who embody the spirit of our college and continue to impact their communities positively,” said CASC President Jay Falkner. “Their dedication to service and leadership is an inspiration to current and future students.”
