Drew Gilbert Hits First AFL Home Run

0 0

New York Mets fan’s focus is certainly on the important Game 3 against the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight at Citi Field, but the Mets do still have two of their top prospects playing the Arizona Fall League, and one of them homered on Tuesday night.

It was a rough reason for Mets outfield prospect Drew Gilbert between a hamstring injury that kept him out for a good portion of the season, and then he struggled in his first taste of Triple-A baseball. But, the one thing he did show in 2024 was power with five doubles and nine home runs in his last 117 at-bats of the season for Triple-A Syracuse. On Tuesday, he hit his first AFL home run off A’s pitching prospect Mitch Myers.

Williams and Reimer both walked for the Scottsdale Scorpions in their 15-2 loss to the Mesa Solar Sox. Reimer is tied with Pirates prospect Termarr Johnson for the team lead in walks with five, and Williams is right behind them with three.

The Scorpions are back in action on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. ET, and Mets prospect RHP Jonathan Pintaro will get the start for Scottsdale.
