Drew Gilbert Hits First AFL Home Run
New York Mets fan’s focus is certainly on the important Game 3 against the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight at Citi Field, but the Mets do still have two of their top prospects playing the Arizona Fall League, and one of them homered on Tuesday night.
It was a rough reason for Mets outfield prospect Drew Gilbert between a hamstring injury that kept him out for a good portion of the season, and then he struggled in his first taste of Triple-A baseball. But, the one thing he did show in 2024 was power with five doubles and nine home runs in his last 117 at-bats of the season for Triple-A Syracuse. On Tuesday, he hit his first AFL home run off A’s pitching prospect Mitch Myers.
