Adjusting the Traeger Smoke P-Setting

If you have a Traeger Pellet Smoker the usage is fairly straight-forward and the temperature is as easy to set as the dial on your oven. ‘Set it and forget it’ as they would say on the infomercials. Starting the grill is as easy as opening the lid and selecting the ‘Smoke’ setting. In approximately 2 minutes it’ll start to smoke and in less than 5 the fire will start to roar. Drop the lid and bump it up to whatever temperature you need. Simple.One question I get asked a lot is how to change the temperature of the smoke setting. The older Traeger manuals covered this, but were worded very poorly. Here is a quick rundown of how the smoke setting works. Since the smoke setting is used to start the unit the it isn’t governed by a temperature, rather it is a cycle that will run the pellet auger for 15 seconds and then pause for a pre-determined amount of time.
