Acquiring the 2024 Cleveland Guardian Franchise - Year of signing
Hello all, as a companion to the previous posts on Transaction Chains, I decided to summarize by a historical signing date for off-season tracking purposes.
I do not have the exact list of who would be eligible for the Rule 5 draft in December, but by rule, "players signed at age 18 or younger need to be added to their club’s 40-Man roster within five seasons or they become eligible for the Rule 5 Draft. Players who signed at age 19 or older need to be protected within four seasons." As the below does not contain ages, I cannot 100% identify who would be eligible for that draft. But a simple guideline would be for all players drafted by Cleveland/domestic amateur free agents that were signed prior to 2020/2021 are likely eligible and any international free agents signed prior to 2019/2020 are likely eligible if they currently are not on the 40-man roster.
Every year about 40 new players are added to the organization, so expect a good deal of churn, especially the older players in the high minors and in the Dominican Summer League (DSL).
At the end of the article is a similar list of players who have left the organization in 2024.
