The Guardians are headed to the ALDS
Morning N&N for Sept 25
This is no longer a cricket blog.
The Cleveland Guardians are good at baseball. Or, at least, relatively good at baseball. There is no dominant team this year, but the Guardians are now guaranteed to be one of the two best AL teams this regular season.
They clinched this honor by beating the Reds last night. The reds were starting a sub because their scheduled starter, Jakob Junis, was pushed back a day. The replacement was hittable and I enjoyed his game immensely. His name was Carson Spiers and he allowed 3 runs in 4 innings. Kyle Manzardo and Lane Thomas, fighting for the nickname Mr. September, took him deep.
Tanner Bibee was excellent. He finally gave up a run in the 4th but got a GIDP to get out of the inning. That 1 run was all CIN scored and the Guardians beat them 6-1.
Earlier in the day, Zack Meisel wrote about the team’s unsung heroes.
Around baseball
- The Royals needed a Manfred Runner in order to score their only run, but won 1-0.
- The Tigers kept up their winning ways, improving to 21-8 since #Javy last played.
- The Twins lost to Miami. Lol. They now trail the Royals AND Tigers by 2 games each.
- The Padres clinched a playoff spot by turning a triple play.
