  • 1989 - The sale of the club to Jeff Smulyan and Michael Browning is approved unanimously approved by the owners of the 25 other ML clubs.
  • 1989 - Erik Hanson hurled a two-hitter (and his 1st CG) against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium as Seattle prevailed, 3-1. The occasion was made even more special as Hanson’s father, Robert, was in the stands celebrating his 61st birthday. Hanson dedicated his victory to his father who was continuing his battle against Lou Gehrig’s disease.
  • 1996 - Salomon Torres tossed his first big-league shutout; a two-hitter that completed a three game sweep at Minnesota, as the Mariners won 7-0. Jay Buhner hit his fortieth homer of the season for his second straight year with 40+ homers.
  • 1997 - In a 7-3 win against Toronto, Ken Griffey Jr. launches his 51st & 52nd home runs, the most since 1961.
