O’s Limp Home After 2-4 Road Trip

0 3

Momentum does not seem to be on the side of the Baltimore Orioles with a dozen games left in the 2024 Regular Season. Trailing 3-0 after seven innings, the Orioles scored 2 runs in the top of the eighth only to see the Detroit Tigers tack on an insurance run in their half of the inning on the way to a 4-2 defeat of the Orioles. With the loss, the Orioles finished a road trip through Boston and Detroit at 2-4.

Detroit’s Riley Greene almost single-handedly beat the Birds. Greene hit a pair of homeruns to finish the day 2 for 4 with 2 homeruns, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI.

The first of Greene’s homers came off starter Cade Povich (5.0 IP, 2 R, 2 H, 2 HR, BB, 8 K) in the third inning. Povich took the loss and is now 2-9 on the season.

Gregory Soto (1.0 IP, R, H, HR, K) coughed up Greene’s second homer in the eighth.

On his return from the IL, Jacob Webb allowed 1 run on 1 hit with a walk in 1.0 inning of work.

Adley Rutschman (2 for 3, HR, R, 2 RBI, BB) provided the totality of the Baltimore offense with his eighth inning two-run homerun, his 19th of the season.

Colton Cowser went 2 for 4 with a double.

Anthony Santander (1 for 4, 2B) and Emmanuel Rivera (1 for 4, 2B) each hit for extra bases.
