Minor League Recap - Columbus Dominates St. Paul, Akron is Shut Out
Columbus and Akron demonstrate the dichotomy of baseball.
Columbus Clippers (75-65) - AAA
STP 1 - COL 11
The Columbus Clippers had themselves a fantastic night. Doug Nikhazy took the mound and earned his 6th win. Nikhazy went 6.0 IP, walking 2 and giving up 3 hits. The sole run allowed by Nikhazy was given up in the first inning. From there on he was locked in, striking out 8. Nikhazy’s ERA is getting closer to 3.00 after every start. He is currently sitting at a 3.12 ERA.
James Karinchak made another appearance with the Clippers, pitching the seventh inning and striking out 1 batter. Nick Mikolajchak pitched the remaining two innings, only allowing 2 hits and striking out 1.
The offense took a few innings to get rolling, but when they did it was all in. In the bottom of the 4th, Bryan Lavastida tripled to right to score both Jonathan Rodriguez and Gabriel Arias.

In the bottom of the 5th, Angel Martínez hit a sac fly to score Myles Straw. Jonathan Rodriguez doubled to score Juan Brito. Gabriel Arias doubled to score Rodriguez. The Clippers were up 5-1. in the bottom of the 6th, the team kept on rolling with the scoring. Myles Straw hit a 2-run single to score Bryan Lavastida and Raynel Delgado. Juan Brito hit a double to score Straw and then scored from 3rd himself on a passed ball. Jonathan Rodriguez hit the final run of the night with a 2-run home run.

Akron RubberDucks (80-56) - AA
HFD 3 - AKR 0
Carlos Carrasco made his first rehab start with the RubberDucks. Unfortunately it did not go spectacularly. Cookie pitched 3.0 innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and striking out 3 on 41 pitches. Aaron Davenport worked the bulk of the game, pitching 5.0 innings. Davenport allowed 1 run on 2 hits. He walked 3 batters but struck out 5. Mason Hickman finished the game out throwing the final frame. He allowed 1 hit and struck out a batter.
Akron’s offense was anemic. Cooper Ingle, Kahlil Watson, Aaron Bracho, and Joe Lampe were the only RubberDucks to record a hit, none of which could be capitalized on for a run.
Lake County - High A
Lake County had the night off before the next round of playoffs. A few of the players took the off day to head over to Cleveland to watch the game.
