The Mets are no longer tied with the Braves for the third Wild Card spot; they have a one-game lead. Now owning a nine-game win streak, the Mets edged ahead after the Braves lost Saturday evening.

WILD CARD UPDATE

Following the Diamondbacks’ 11-5 loss against the Astros, the Mets are 0.5 games behind them for the second Wild Card spot. The Padres lost as well, 6-3 to the Giants, putting the Mets 2.0 games back of the first Wild Card spot.

Prior to Saturday’s game, manager Carlos Mendoza informed the media that Jeff McNeil‘s season is most likely over. He has fractured his right wrist, and the injury is expected to take 4-6 weeks to heal. That said, barring a deep playoff run, McNeil will most likely be done for the remainder of the season.

On Saturday, the Mets (78-64) defeated the Reds (68-75) 4-0 to secure the series victory. Jose Quintana threw 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball while allowing five hits, two walks, and six strikeouts.

The Mets will close out their series with the Reds on Sunday. Luis Severino is the probable pitcher for the Mets (10-6, 3.84 ERA), while Julian Aguiar is the probable pitcher for the Reds (1-0, 6.48 ERA). The first pitch is scheduled for 1:40 p.m. ET, and the game will be broadcast live on SNY.
