Baseball Fan Knocked Unconscious by Home Run

0 0

An unfortunate scene unfolded in St. Petersburg, FL over the holiday weekend when a fan at the Tampa Bay Rays—Minnesota Twins game on Monday night was knocked unconscious by a line drive home run.

The ball was hit by Twins star Trevor Larnach, who drove the ball into right field where a man attempted to catch it with his bare hands. After missing the ball, he was clocked in the head instead, leaving nearby fans to call for medical aid. He can be seen getting hit in the face and falling back into his seat in a video shared by the Twins:

A nearby patron of the ballpark caught the aftermath on video.

Luckily, the fan wasn't seriously injured, and Larnach got to catch up with him later in the game. During a post-game interview with Bally Sports North, Larnach said he signed a bat for the man

"I got to talk to him," he said. "Thankfully he's okay, but that's scary man. I've never seen that before so good thing I got to talk to him."

Minnesota won the game 5–4, so Larnach's dangerous home run turned out to be quite consequential.
