Gamethread: Mets at White Sox
Look out A’s of 108 years ago, we are hot on your trail!
Let’s kick off with some minors news, as Jared Kelley — the “second first round choice” from the storied 2020 draft that yielded Garrett Crochet and lasted ... five rounds — is now a reliever, and a good enough one to merit promotion to Triple-A. (Come to think of it, Knights closer Adisyn Coffey was also in that draft, albeit a two-way player at the time, so this punt of a draft could possibly yield three MLB players out of five picks!)
In other news, ascendant starter Mason Adams makes his home debut for Charlotte after leaving his Triple-A debut with some back tightness, so that’s a big PHEW for us. And Seth Keener, third round pick last summer and our Luke Smailes’ favorite Sox pick of 2023, has moved up to High-A Winston-Salem to finish out the year, perhaps setting up a start at Double-A Birmingham out of the gate in 2025.
And hey, here’s a fun one: Not only has Aaron McGarity had a pretty darn good season in late relief for the Knights, he pulled a Lamar Johnson and sang the National Anthem before Thursday’s game:

Then there’s the matter of the major league team. Less said about that, the better.
