Francisco Lindor Named NL Player of the Week

0 0

MLB announced Monday Francisco Lindor earned National League Player of the Week honors. It’s the fourth time in his career he’s earned this achievement. Lindor hit .345/.387/.793 with a 1.180 OPS and clubbed three homers, six RBIs, four doubles and scored six runs. Aaron Judge of the Yankees took home honors for the American League after ending the week smashing his 50th and 51st homers.

It’s noteworthy for Lindor and the Mets, who both got off to a slow start on the year. The shortstop had a lethargic .202/.278/.372 line with an 86 wRC+ through the first six weeks of 2024. However, from May 6 on, Lindor turned it around, posting a .289/.359/.519 slashline and 148 wRC+. Mr. Smile continues to turn in MVP-level numbers at the plate and Gold Glove-caliber plays on the field.

A three-time Silver Slugger, Lindor joined the 25-25 Club for the third time in his career on Wednesday against Baltimore and became the 18th player in MLB history to have at least three 25-25 seasons. A hitting machine since early May, Lindor leads the league for most multi-hit games in August (12) and ties Shohei Ohtani for fourth in baseball for most multi-hit games this season (45). In addition, Lindor has a 24-game on-base streak dating back to July 31.
