Gamethread: Mariners at White Sox

Seattle Mariners v Chicago White Sox

The 26th series loss in 34 tries is already in the books, is a 16th sweep in the offing?

Today, the White Sox attempt to avoid a 14th straight loss and 16th series sweep of the season. Funny (not funny), just seven weeks ago, the club was wrapping up a 14-game losing streak, which ended up falling one short of the all-time record set from 1967-68. Lookit the pride of this club, making another run so soon, with still plenty of losing time left in the season’s last two months!

On the “who’s going down with the ship” front, Bob Nightengale is already speculating on new White Sox managers (wait did I say already? Pedro is howlingly bad, this speculation should have come a year ago):

So, let’s cherish Pedro while we still have him.

Plus, it’s Garrett Crochet Day, and for real, this could be his last White Sox start. Unless that whole thing about not pitching out of the pen and needing an extension or he won’t pitch in the playoffs killed his trade value, which, yeah.

It’s a 1:10 p.m. CT game, and for real, it’s a NBCSCH and ESPN radio game today.
