Coincidentally, he is the maternal uncle of Ewan McGregor, who portrayed Obi-Wan Kenobi throughout the prequel trilogy. Outside Star Wars , the actor is famous for starring in the 1983 Scottish film Local Hero and the 2005 BBC television serial Bleak House.He was also an early drama school castmate of Ian McDiarmid who portrayed Emperor Palpatine in the Star Wars Saga.
