A’s roster moves: Brooks DFA’d, O’Loughlin recalled

A move to bolster the ‘pen

The Athletics announced a small roster move just a few hours before their second game against the Angels:

That makes it twice this year that Brooks has been recalled but DFA’d shortly later. The 34-year old veteran pitched well in last night’s game, tossing five innings of one-run ball. He likely won’t get claimed off waivers and could return to Triple-A, waiting for his third chance with the A’s.

Taking Brooks’ roster spot is rookie lefty reliever Jack O’Loughlin. This isn’t his first stint with the club as he’s pitched in three game for the Green & Gold this year. He’s looked good as he hasn’t allowed a run in seven innings so far as a big leaguer. He joins TJ McFarland, Scott Alexander and Sean Newcomb as lefties available for Mark Kotsay out of the bullpen. Let’s see if he can keep up the scoreless outings.
