The Sox were limited to four hits but worked nine walks, including four during a three-run rally in the second inning. They also put tremendous pressure on the Pirates while on the basepaths, stealing eight bases including a double steal in which Franyer Noria raced home while Franklin Arias swiped second. Raimundo De Los Santos stole three of those bases while going 1 for 3 with a walk. Deybi Salcedo got the start, allowing two runs in four innings, striking out seven against one walk. Wuilliams Rodriguez was credited with the win, giving up one run on two hits in three frames.

Carlos Carrasquel led the offense, going 3 for 4 with a double, walk, and four RBI. Justin Barry doubled and scored two runs as part of a 2-for-5 afternoon, while Jorge Rodriguez scored four runs.

Moises Bolivar also picked up a pair of hits. Yoelvin Chirino took the loss, giving up five runs on seven hits in three innings.
