Shenendehowa baseball prevails in Class AAA semifinal series over CBA

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Reigning Class AA champ Shenendehowa is off to defend its crown in the Class AAA championship series after defeating Christian Brothers Academy 10-7 in game three of the semifinal series Monday. The Plainsmen offense tallied ten runs on eight hits.

The Brothers started the scoring early off a solo home run from Matthew Sgambati, but the Plainsmen swung back. Jason Clawson singled to right-tying the game at one. Shen took the lead moments later after Jordan Pazienza was hit by a pitch, extending their lead to 2-1.

Jackson Cox getting hit by a pitch helped CBA tie the game again in the fourth. However, that was short-lived because Brad Curtis doubled to deep left, scoring one run and putting Shen back in the driver's seat.

Evan Kochanskyj hit a grand slam in the fifth. He finished the game 1-4 with four RBI.

This win sets up a rematch of the 2023 Class AA section championship series against Saratoga. Game one of the best-of-three series is scheduled for Thursday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m.
