Mariners Game #47 Preview, 5/19/24: SEA at BAL
The Mariners finish up the series with a tough opponent in Charm City
After squeaking out a win yesterday and ensuring they wouldn’t be swept, the Mariners go back at it today with another tough pitching matchup: Orioles prized off-season acquisition Corbin Burnes. However, the Mariners will be sending a tough opponent of their own to the mound in George Kirby.

Today in Mariners History:
- 1994: 512 fans participate in the inaugural “Buhner Buzz Cut Night”, and to reward them, Jay Buhner scores the winning run in the bottom of the ninth vs. Texas.
- 1999: The Mariners earn their first shutout of the season behind a strong pitching line from Jeff Fassero, who goes eight scoreless innings to help the team complete a sweep of Minnesota.
- 2011: In another brilliant Mariners marketing move, it’s Franklin Gutierrez’s “Death to Flying Things” fly swatter day. Mariners complete a two-game sweep of the Angels as Carlos Peguero walks it off in the ninth when Gold Glover Torii Hunter loses the ball in the sun.
- 2021: Kyle Seager hits his 84th home run at T-Mobile park, breaking a tie with Nelson Cruz and Raúl Ibañez for most homers at T-Mobile Park.
