Start spreading the news, the South Siders got swept

The Chicago White Sox will come out of Yankee Stadium with no wins, swept this weekend by New York. The red-hot Yankees team has been able to deliver on both offense and defense this series, and we will say goodbye to The Bronx, happily.

Both pitchers had a scoreless first inning, and the new man on the block Corey Julks had his first home run in a White Sox uniform with one out in the top of the second inning:

The team added on after a Korey Lee walk and Zach Remillard triple that bounced off the outfield wall awkwardly:

Of course, the Yankees would come firing back in the bottom of the inning with runners on second and third, as Jose Trevino singled them in to tie it.

Yankees starter Carlos Rodón had a bit of a situation in the top of the fourth with two on and nobody out, but of course he struck out three White Sox in a row to end the threat.

After back-to-back singles by Anthony Rizzo and Gleyber Torres, not Juan Soto ... not Aaron Judge ... but Jon Berti (?) hit a three-run home run to break the tie and give New York a 5-2 lead, because, of course.

Don’t worry, Judge got his home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, a two-run bomb to extend the lead to 7-2.

White Sox starter Chris Flexen went just four innings with eight hits, seven runs, and one walk to move his ERA up to 5.48.

Julks also shined on the defensive side of things, making an absolutely wild grab in left field to rob a home run. Had it not been 7-2, this would have been talked about more. It was an outstanding play that deserves to be lauded, as he timed his jump to perfection:

Not much more would happen, and the Yankees closed out the 7-2 win. Rodón went six innings with four hits, two runs, two walks, and six strikeouts.

The game sucked, so here’s video of a bird chase in the infield:

The team will go up north to Toronto tomorrow to play the Blue Jays. Erick Fedde will be on the mound for a 2:07 p.m. CT start.
