CBA baseball erases three-run deficit, forcing game three in Class AAA semifinal series

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- It's a brand new series between Shenendehowa and Christian Brothers Academy in the Section II, Class AAA baseball semifinals. Trailing 1-0 in the best-of-three-game series, CBA defended its home field Saturday, forging a late rally to take down the top-seeded Plainsmen, 5-4, and force a decisive third game.

Brothers shortstop James Dixon had a day in the batter's box, going 3-3 and driving in the go-ahead runs in the bottom of the sixth inning - the exclamation point on a three-run frame that sealed CBA's come-from-behind win.

Dixon and the Brothers knew they were going to face some talented arms from Shen, but they didn't let that stop them from rising to the occasion.

"We knew we were going to face two tough guys today," said Dixon. "Going into it, we knew we were going to battle, and we did. The score shows the outcome."

Head coach Casey O'Connor anticipated a low-scoring game. He also knew the right guy was at the dish for his team in the biggest moment of the game.

"He's (Dixon) been hot," said O'Connor. "He had three hits today, and, you know, we're going to ride out lightning when we can."

A trip to the AAA championship series will be on the line in game three, which is set for Monday, May 20, with first pitch from Clifton Park at 4:00 p.m.
