Baty is day-to-day with hamstring tightness, manager Carlos Mendoza says. There aren’t currently plans for imaging and he injured it running out a ground ball to first.

As the New York Mets take on the Pittsburgh Pirates in Tuesday night’s game at Citi Field, they hope one of their promising young players will not miss much time with an injury.

During the game, Mets third baseman Brett Baty was pulled for backup Joey Wendle in the top of the seventh inning due to hamstring tightness. The Pirates were leading 1-0 when Baty exited the game, but the Mets have since tied it on a double by… Joey Wendle.

So far this season, Baty has been one of the better positives of the 2024 Mets season. In 16 games,

Baty is slashing .305/.359/.373/.732. He’s notched 18 hits, one home run, and nine RBIs. He is currently the only Met player in the lineup batting over. 300. Baty entered 2024 as a question mark, with many wondering if he’s the team’s third baseman of the future.

Baty has been up to the task through the first few weeks of the year. Hamstrings are tricky injuries to navigate, and the hope for New York is that it isn’t too serious.

Should he require time on the injured list, Mark Vientos has been solid in Triple-A this year. He went 3-for-5 with a triple, four RBIs and two runs.
