Trea Turner placed on paternity list
SAN DIEGO — Prior to Tuesday’s game against the San Diego Padres, Phillies shortstop Trea Turner was placed on the paternity list. Outfielder Weston Wilson was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take his place on the roster.
Turner’s wife Kristen is due to have the couple’s second child, a baby boy. He said in a recent interview on Foul Territory that he was expecting the baby to come after the Phillies returned home from the roadtrip.
Players can miss a maximum of three games while on the paternity list.
Turner’s absence comes in the midst of a hot streak. In his last seven games, Turner is slashing .406/.441/1.156, good for an insane 1.597 OPS.
